Toy Vault Voodoo Doll Plush Toy Feature
Toy Vault Voodoo Doll Plush Toy OverviewThe practice of sticking pins in dolls, or poppets, actually stems from Old World European folk magic, not the Haitian religion of Vodou. Over time the practice evolved and became a method of cursing individuals with pain and suffering. Today the voodoo doll finds its roots in New Orleans Voodoo, which is a form of âhoodooâ or Southern folk magic. Some believe that this genre was passed down from slaves who used the poppets to ward off their superstitious owners. In traditional Vodou, the poppet, or pwen, was used as a messenger between this world and the next.
Toy Vault Voodoo Doll Plush Toy User ReviewSturdy material but the needle in the picture is not included. Has an opening in the back so you can put your helpless victim’s photo and a lock of his/her hair there and start poking the doll with your (own) needle. Has received some compliments from my friends and the girls get freaked out when I ask their photos so I can put them in the doll. With this price this is a good addition to anyone’s collection of creepy dolls.
