This is a cute game set, but all 10 games you can play require an adult or older child to help. Reading is required. It says ages 4+ but there is a lot of set up which is hard for young children. We spent more time setting up than playing most games but my daughter did enjoy playing. I would recommend this for an older child playing with the little ones.

Educo Double Bubble Wire Maze User Review

Our twin baby girls enjoy this toy and it will keep one of them entertained for a few minutes, which is nice! However, the suction cups aren’t that great. Both girls can pull it right off of wherever it’s stuck. But this probably would happen no matter what, kids just want to hold things in their laps anyway don’t they?

My only other complaint is that when I researched the maker, Hape International, I was under the impression they were a European company – and was disappointed when I got the toy and found out it was made in China.

Still… the kids love it, it helps their hand/eye coordination and cause/effect skills. Great size for little hands.

What We Think Fun Factor: Durability: (what this means) The Good: Battery-powered console goes where your child goes, offers versatile, educational fun. The Bad: An SD card, which must be purchased separately, is required to take advantage of many Leapster 2 features. The console has a comfortable, curved shape, although it may be a tad large and heavy for smaller hands. It features a full-color touch screen and sound that’s a far cry better than the beeps of old-school handheld consoles. (Parents will appreciate the volume control and a jack for headphones!) Control and manipulate the console with the included stylus and with the videogame-style D pad and other buttons.

We found the initial set-up to be relatively easy: install the four required AA batteries, and navigate through the self-explanatory screens to create user profiles for up to 3 children (which come in handy for accessing online features). After this quick set-up, a menu screen will appear, where you can choose to play the pre-loaded games, go online, or insert a game cartridge.

Fun and Learning
Leapster 2 games are designed to grow with your child ages 4 through 8. The console is pre-loaded with two games: The “Dragons to the Rescue! Learning Game,” is a “video game” type activity with four different levels, the first helping kids identify letters and numbers, the most advanced giving them spelling and multiplication practice, all while navigating a dragon past monstrous storm clouds and scrambling to collect magic crystals. The “Creativity Castle Art Studio” is a rather low-tech art program. Players can select a background scene to “color” using the stylus and “decorate” with fun animated stamps. While it does foster creativity, this program is somewhat clumsy — your Paint program on your PC does a much better job. But “Dragons” was fun enough to keep even an adult tester enjoyably diverted.

Unfortunately, an SD card is required for taking advantage of much of what the Leapster 2 has to offer — which is a drawback, because it must be purchased separately. Without the SD card, which offers more memory, you cannot save artwork, download new games, or take advantage of the online “Learning Path,” which will be available August 2008. (This online program allows you to register and upload your children’s Leapster 2 profiles to show you their learning activities and their progress.)

In the meantime, without the SD card, you can still purchase game cartridges. And you still can plug your console — with the included USB cable — into your PC for your children to view and print “rewards” for completing different game levels (for Dragons to the Rescue, they’re certificates of achievement) or to print pictures to color with actual crayons (to encourage some “old-fashioned” creativity!) You must first install the Leapster 2 software on your computer, which comes on the included CD-ROM.

LeapFrog Leapster 2 Learning Game System – Pink User Review

My husband and I bought 2 of these for our sons ages 3 and 4 for christmas. A week later we picked up a 3rd for our 9yr old son because he kept trying to take his brother’s. My oldest managed to drop his into a tub of water! I was certain that was the end of his new toy. I let it sit over night after I pulled out the batteries and this afternoon I checked to see if by any luck it still worked. Imagine my surprise when it did! My 2 youngest have dropped theirs as well and still they work as if right out of the box! My only complaint is the battery life. You -have- to get rechargeable batteries, well unless you’d rather toss out batteries every day or so if your kids like mine love it.

Mattel Scene It? Movies 2nd Edition User Review

This is a great game for all sorts of gatherings. I am glad to see that the movie’s that are featured cover a wide range of genres and time periods. I recommend it for anyone who enjoys board games and will look forward to the next version to come out.

Fisher-Price Laugh and Learn Learning Puppy User Review

My son received this puppy a few years ago, and it was always a favorite. It’s songs are very cute, it is cuddly, and he found the sneeze to be very funny. He is now 4 and it is still in great shape, and hasn’t hogged batteries.

The only bad thing I would say is that it is easy to bump and turn on in a crowded toybox, but it shuts itself off quickly if not touched again.

Fisher-Price Easy Link Internet Launch Pad Specifications

The Easy-Link Internet Launchpad offers Internet environments that allow children to play games without venturing into other areas online. Parents simply connect it to their computer using the included USB cable to allow kids to safely visit preschool-appropriate Web sites and play online games. Kids can plug their favorite character figures into the Launchpad and be taken directly to that character’s website.

Fisher-Price Easy Link Internet Launch Pad User Review

My two girls have had this for 4 months now and still love the games. The game “plugs” are easy to insert and you don’t have to worry about delicate parts being broken. The games are easy to understand and are very consistent on format. This game has taught my 3 y/o how to effectively move a mouse where she wants it to go. I do love the fact that it doesn’t allow any wandering to other sites or tabs like nickjr so I am not every 5 minutes correcting an accidental wandering or advertisement. I like the Elmo game with old school videos included to the games so my girls are singing old sesame street counting songs(it brings back my own memories!) Both girls love to play the game on the puppy where you create a girl’s hairdo and makeup and jewelry. My mother got this present and I find it is worth its weight in gold. Ps…. it for sure teaches how to “take turns”-buzzer required!
